Administrative Park
Iosif Leontis
1sr Distinction in open ADC
Alexandroupolis Municipality requested through an open ADC the design of a new administrative building in a plot at the outskirts of the city and beside a stream. A building is proposed at the one side of the plot, leaving the most of the plot to be formed as a park. The stream is proposed to be revealed.
Design objectives
Clear concept communicating design content / Relation of meaning between form & content
The proposal defines the concept of the Administrative Park in relation to its location on the border of the city's natural and artificial environment, creating a dialectical relationship between the need for development and the protection of the natural environment.
Integration of design in natural and urban landscape
Design choices are based on the juxtaposition of the natural and the artificial, co-shaping the building and the stream bed, in a broadening of the imaginary outline of the stream flow and the flow of citizen movement to and from the Services housed in the building.
New space & form experience
Proposed building's form varies from the one side to the other to relate with the context transition from development to protection and built environment to nature
Proposed building form inside the park is shaped as a facade with multiple entrances for public access to different public services offices.
