Entry in an open ADC for the design of a complex of shared neighborhood functions. It consists of a nursery school, a day care center for the elderly and a small park. The intention of design is to convey meaning, through the correlation of the form of the proposed space, with the content.

Design objectives

Neighborhood coherence & coexistence
Bring together different age groups during the cycle of daily performance of their roles. Proposed movements and paths in space, create conditions for visibility, intensity of contacts, interaction, which contribute to the intensity of socialization of the local community

New space & form experience
Design organized around two yards that organize nursery units and pedestrian movement in the park
Multiple unconventional spatial experiences, transitions and alternations through proposed routes and complexity of individual spaces.
Nursery rooms have the flexibility of unification with each other, creating conditions for greater interaction in the space, as well as the possibility of scaling group activities.

Relation of meaning between form & content
Referring to the proposed design for the nursery, an equal presence in space of the individual roles of the educator and the trainee is proposed, expressed through circular arrangements of rooms, which frame and underline the group activities of the children.

Sustainability – low energy consumption & emissions
it is proposed to exploit the thermal inertia of the ground in combination with an artificial hill and a closed geothermal system. Natural ventilation systems are proposed (chimneys, zones of light, sunlight and shading, as well as other passive and active systems).
